Part Time Staff :: Geraldine Hyndman

My name is Geraldine Hyndman.

I am a youth worker in CMYC, but I am also a past member of the youth centre (Crawford was my youth worker lol).

I am a mother of three sons and am back in further education hoping to gain a degree in social policy which will enable me to get involved with youth people involved in crime.

My main work in the club is with the community relations groups.

The youth has just completed three years as the partner group of Cregagh Youth from East Belfast in a project called "Crossing The Bridges". A new Clonard/Cregagh group has just started. I will facilitate the Clonard group. Davy Geddis is my co worker from Cregagh

We are getting ready to introduce another group. We have just established a partnership with the Hammer Youth Centre on the Shankill Road. Our centres are on opposite sides of the Peace Line.

I thoroughly enjoy working in the club and I feel that the work I do in the youth centre is giving something back to my community. Growing up and being a member of the youth centre was an important part of my life and though the environment of the club and the youth workers who supported me it has helped make me the person that I am today.

As a youth worker myself I aim to give the young people in my community the same experiences that I received.
