Clonard Youth Centre partnered up with the Quaker society to carry out a cross community project in April 2008.
This was a really fun piece of work in which all participants really enjoyed. Each week the group visited eachothers own centre and there we carried out our group work sessions. At the start we spent alot of time encouraging the young people to get to know eachother. At the start the young people were a bit shy and always stayed with their own frinds from their own group. After a few sessions this was no longer the case as all young people just joined all in together. All the young people really enjoyed visiting eachothers centre as they liked to get out of their own community and have a nosey around other communities.
Relationships were developed as we spent some time on social activities such as horse riding, eating out and Ice Skating.
Our group work sessions were all about exploring eachothers communities and cultures which was very interesting. All young people spoke up very well and they all learned alot. The individuals within the group became very confident and very relaxed around eachother.
